Army bomb experts were called to deal with a suspicious object outside the district courts in Dublin this morning.

The Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team was called after a phone call was made to Bridewell Garda Station. The device turned out to be a hoax, according to a Garda spokesman.

The object was left on North Bunswick Street near the complex that houses the capital's district courts.

Gardaí put traffic diversions in place and asked motorists to avoid the area. Streets were later re-opened.
