David Higgins will go into tomorrow’s final round of the South African PGA four strokes adrift of Chris Williams.
The Waterville golfer shot a third round 69 to leave him on nine under for the tournament and tied for sixth spot in the Sunshine Tour event.
Williams, who carded a course record 64 in the second round, leads three from his nearest rival and picked up today where he left off yesterday with birdies at the first and fourth holes. The Englishman progressed to shoot a 65 and move to 13 under.
Elsewhere, England's Denny Lucas, who plays out of the same Worksop Golf Club as former European number one Lee Westwood, scored the second a hole-in-one of the tournament.
Lucas holed out with a six-iron at the 186-metre par-three seventh hole at the Woodhill Country Club.
