The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Michael Heseltine, rounded on Tory renegades, warning them that they would earn the party's "utter contempt" if they handed Labour power. He also warned the Referendum Party and its leader, billionaire financier Sir James Goldsmith, not to let Labour in.
