EXCESS IRON:Haemochromatosis is a genetic disorder which results in excessive storage of iron in the body. Public information meetings explaining the disorder and treatment options have been organised by the Irish Haemochromatosis Association in various venues in the following weeks.

These include Waterford Regional Hospital on Friday at 7.30pm, The Boole Lecture Theatre, University College Cork on Thursday, October 25th at 8pm and the Robert Adams Lecture Theatre, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin on Wednesday, November 14th at 7.30pm. See also www.haemochromatosis-ir.com 

MENTAL HEALTH LECTURE SERIES:Dr Mark Atkinson, founder of the British College of Integrated Medicine, is in Ireland this week to give a series of lectures on mental health and wellbeing.

Entitled Positive Mental Wellbeing - the Keys to Unlocking Mind-Body Harmony, the evenings go ahead in the Royal College of Surgeons tonight at 7.30pm, the Ardilaun House Hotel, Galway tomorrow night at 7.30pm and the Imperial Hotel, South Mall, Cork city on Thursday at 7.30pm. Tickets €10.

PSORIASIS CONFERENCE:The Psoriasis Association of Ireland is holding its fourth annual conference on Saturday from 10am-3pm in the Imperial Hotel, South Mall, Cork city.

Speakers at the conference include Dr Colin Buckley, consultant dermatologist at Waterford Regional Hospital, Cork GP Dr Hilda Fennell O'Shea and dermatology nurse Breda Burke.
