Boning up on bottled water

The Irish Osteoporosis Society has put its weight behind a 115-year-old Italian mineral water which has just become available in the Republic. Sanfaustino is rich in calcium and claims to contain up to 45 per cent of the recommended daily allowance for Irish adults which it says helps to minimise age-related bone degeneration.

The society’s chief executive, Niall McLoughlin, says Sanfaustino is “an effective way to increase daily calcium intake and contribute to strong healthy bones”. The water comes from a protected source in the foothills of Umbria, Italy.
