Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?

Yes, but not as focused as it was when I competed on the international athletics circuit. Back then I monitored everything – what I ate, the amount of running, rest and fluids intake. Those habits have continued, but not to the same 24/7 routine I kept to reach maximum performance on the track.

How often do you exercise?

Three or fours days per week, sometimes more depending on my motivation. While I used run close to 100 miles per week, training twice per day, now I usually run for 30 to 40 minutes, making sure I get in a good cardiovascular workout.

Do you get your five a day?

Generally speaking yes. My wife Yvonne ensures there is plenty of mixed veg on the plate. I probably fall down on the appropriate amount of fruit. While I like fruit, I just forget to eat it. The best habit is to put some in the car first

thing in the morning on the way out, and make sure it’s eaten by the end of the day.

Do you worry?

I’d consider myself a bit of a worrier alright. Who doesn’t? At the end of the day it is usually silly little things that cause worry. If I find myself consumed by worry, I simply talk it through with my wife or close friends. A problem shared is a problem halved!

What do you do to relax?

Jog, ride my motorcycle and play golf. Though the latter can get me down at times, I find a long trip through the mountains or down the country on the motorcycle to be exhilarating.

What do you consider to be your unhealthiest habit?

I have no bad habits!
