Aoibhinn McGinnity, actress
Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?
At the minute, because I’m in show mode, it can go a bit out the window. You’ve less time so you tend to just grab a sandwich. Whenever I have the time, I like to do yoga but I find it harder in the winter. It’s much easier in the summer because you can go out for a run – when it’s dark you just want to stay put.
How often do you exercise?
I do yoga and running. If I’m in the gym, I’ll do weights too. You have to change things now and then or your body just gets used to it. I’d definitely do more exercise in the summer. If I’m between jobs, I find it really important to work out because it keeps your head clear and helps you keep your focus.
Do you get your five a day?
It’s not as easy in the winter, but like everyone else, I try. It depends on work and my day. There is always a banana in my bag with good intentions, but normally it just gets bruised and put in the bin. Someone needs to make a banana lunchbox.
Do you worry?
I suppose I do – women are good worriers anyway aren’t they? But I do yoga and things like that to keep my head straight. I don’t know anybody that doesn’t worry about stuff but I feel like I’m getting better at not worrying.
When I’m between jobs, you think, what’s going on, but then you talk to other actors and you realise, you are not the only one. With experience, you just get to a point where worrying is negative and that’s not going to help when you have an audition.
What do you do to relax?
I like to cosy up and watch a film. I think comedies are great for a nice easy escape and a cosy-up.
What’s your unhealthiest habit?
Pizza. I kind of pretend to myself that it isn’t too bad, but I’m obsessed with pizza actually. As a weekend treat or when I’m in a rush.
