Expressive art:The role of arts in helping people deal with life traumas, difficult relationships or transitions will be explored in the new Expressive Arts Ireland series of workshops.

The workshop leaders, all of whom are members of the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapies, will form new learning groups in Kilkenny, starting on January 17th and 22nd and in Dublin, starting on January 22nd.

Psoriasis booklet:A new booklet on psoriatic arthritis has been published. The condition affects one-third of people with psoriasis but it may not develop until 10 years or more after the skin condition first appears.

The booklet is available from the Psoriasis Association of Ireland and Arthritis Ireland.

The Irish Christmas Tree Throwing Championship takes place on Saturday between 10am and 4pm at Lees Road Sports Amenity Park, Ennis, Co Clare.

A novel way to turn Christmas tree recycling into a sport, the event is also a fundraiser for the Clare branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland.

Christmas tree throwing is based on age-old lumberjack traditions, commonplace across Germany and Austria.

The next six-week Stop Smoking Course in St Vincent’s University Hospital, Elm Park, Dublin 4 starts on Tuesday, January 8th at 6.45pm.
