  • The Food Safety Authority of Ireland now offers food allergy sufferers a text or e-mail alert system once it receives new information on specific allergy risks due to missing or incorrect labelling on food. Those with an established food allergy to any of the 14 different allergen categories identified by EU legislation can subscribe online to receive such alerts. See fsai.ie
  • The Endometriosis Association of Ireland is hosting a support group meeting for those recently diagnosed with this debilitating gynaecological condition on Saturday from 2pm to 4pm in the Carmichael Centre, North Brunswick Street, Dublin 7. Tel: 086-3203855, endo.ie
  • The science behind how the sun damages your skin is the theme of a public lecture on Monday at 6.45pm in the Royal College of Physicians, Kildare Street, Dublin 2. The talk will be given by Dr David E Fisher, director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Dermatology at the Harvard Medical School. Admission is free.
  • A summit to consider the challenges facing residential care is being held at St Mary's Hospital, Phoenix Park, in Dublin today. Discussions will centre on the report on End-of-Life Care for Older People in Acute and Long-Stay Care Settings in Ireland published last year by the Irish Hospice Foundation and the National Council on Ageing and Older People.
  • Tinnitus is a condition in which people experience sounds that have no external cause. Tinnitus Awareness Week runs from February 8th-14th.
