Covid-19: Another 3,692 PCR-confirmed cases reported, and 4,347 positive antigen tests

Another 3,692 PCR-confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the State, while 4,347 more people have registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal.

The figures were among the latest Covid-19 data released by the Department of Health and the National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) on Monday evening.

As of 8am on Monday, there were 885 Covid-19 patients hospitalised in the State, of whom 76 are in ICU. The number of Covid patients in hospitals had increased by 40 on the number of such hospitalisations reported on Sunday.

Meanwhile, one further person who had previously tested positive recently for Covid-19 has died in Northern Ireland, the North's Department of Health has said.

Another 3,932 confirmed cases of the virus have also been notified in the North in its last 24-hour reporting period.

The latest coronavirus figures for the North were reported by its Department of Health on Monday afternoon.

On Monday morning, there were 371 Covid-19 inpatients in the North’s hospitals, 23 of whom were being treated in ICU.

Last week the Stormont Executive announced a swathe of relaxations of Covid-19 restrictions. From Friday, rules on table service in pubs and restaurants were relaxed, and the requirement to prove exemptions on wearing face masks was removed.

From Wednesday, nightclubs in the North will be able to reopen and Covid certification will no longer be required to enter pubs, restaurants or cinemas. Ministers are set to consider the remaining restrictions on February 10th. Additional reporting: – PA
