All-Ireland campaign for positive ageing

Lifelines:Nominations are currently being sought for the first round of the recently launched all-Ireland campaign to promote positive ageing.

The All Ireland Inspirational Life Awards are supported by Age Opportunity, Age Concern, Help the Aged Northern Ireland and Third Age Foundation.

The closing date for the first round of nominations is Friday, January 8th, 2010.

Workshops on career choices and self-care

“What colour is Your Parachute?” is a creative approach to looking at your career choices and directions.

Devised by Richard Bolles, it will be delivered by career coach Brian McIvor as a day workshop on January 13th in Chrysalis Holistic Centre, Donard, Co Wicklow.

And, for those who promised themselves more time out in 2010, the centre will host a day programme on self-care, nurturing and time out on January 20th.

Two acupressure mats come on the Irish market

Two new acupressure mats have just arrived on the Irish market.

Jokingly referred to as the modern day bed of nails, the mats have up to 6,000 tiny plastic pin-sized pressure points which are designed to relieve tension, stress and pain.

Initially, though, they often cause discomfort – which advocates say disappears within minutes.
