Minister for Education Mary Hanafin has released over €16 million in funding to 57 schools across the country under the State's building and morernisation programme
Ms Hanafin announced that 38 schools - of which 24 are primary and 14 post primary -would given the necessary capital projects under the Summer Works Scheme, at a cost of almost €3 million.
The additional funding secured for the School Building and Modernisation Programme in the Revised Estimates will allow these schools to proceed with refurbishment and modernisation projects immediately " said the Minister.
"The projects have a particular emphasis on Science, ICT and Technology areas and are drawn from applications originally made under the Summer Works Scheme 2006 and elements of major refurbishment projects from the main building programme that are suitable for progressing during the summer months," she added.
