Grounds of rugby club vandalised

An established Limerick rugby club has had its grounds vandalised

An established Limerick rugby club has had its grounds vandalised. Thomond, which gained promotion to the fourth division of the All Ireland League this year has been carrying out improvements to its grounds, Fitzgerald Park, near Moyross, for the new season.

The newly-surfaced playing pitch, which will cost £20,000 to repair, and walkway were damaged. Car windows were smashed, the club wall damaged and the club's multi-channel television link cut.

The club caters for 12 teams from under-age to senior. According to a spokesman, every time they make any improvements to the grounds the vandals strike.
