A CO TIPPERARY grandmother was in a serious but stable condition in Cork University Hospital last night after an assault which left her with a fractured skull and other head injuries.

Mrs Mary Molumby was discovered in a car trailer with her 60 year old son, Mr Jack Molumby, near the Horse and Jockey pub on the main Dublin Cork road. It is understood both were assaulted at Mrs Molumby's home at Archerstown, Thurles.

In a separate incident two elderly people were attacked in their home at East Wall in Dublin early yesterday by a group of masked men. The gang forced its way into the house, beating a 72 year old man and his 84 year old sister before stealing money from the house. The man suffered cuts to his face from a knife and both were treated at the Mater Hospital for shock.
