A six-year-old girl sucked Ajax powder into her mouth through a straw in a McDonald's restaurant, a court was told yesterday. Circuit Court President Mr Justice Esmond Smyth was told Jasmine Dowling thought she had been given 7-Up. Mr Richard McDonnell, counsel for Jasmine, of Coburg Place, Dublin, said she suffered burns to her mouth and had to be treated in hospital. Mr McDonnell said the incident happened in McDonald's, Upper O'Connell Street, Dublin, in March last year. She had made a good recovery, and the restaurant had offered compensation of £7,500. Mr Justice Smyth approved the settlement.
