A nine-year-old schoolgirl has died at Cork University Hospital in a suspected case of meningoccal meningitis, a southern Health spokesperson confirmed last night.
The girl, who was a pupil at Cloghroe National School, three miles from Blarney, became ill on Wednesday night and was rushed to hospital where she died yesterday evening.
