The German Economy Minister said today he expected the country's gross domestic
product (GDP) to expand by 0.9-1.0 per cent this year.
This is faster than the government's current official forecast of 0.75 per cent.
Mr Werner Mueller predicted the recovery in the euro zone's biggest economy would gather momentum next year, bringing growth up to 2.5-3.0 per cent in 2003.
