The German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce has elected a new president, with former vice-president Lorenz Zimmermann stepping into the role.

Mr Zimmermann, who is managing director of Siemens Ireland, is also the chamber's spokesperson on Transport and Infrastructure. He was elected president at the body's AGM in Dublin today.

"Over the last decade, over 200 German companies have located in Ireland, employing over 14,000 people across a range of disciplines," said Mr Zimmermann.

"The German-Irish Chamber is currently actively involved in promoting investment and partnerships between German and Irish companies. One key area of expertise allows the German-Irish Chamber to liaise with partner Chambers in Germany to bring companies who are seeking potential trade partners in Ireland to Dublin," he said.
