Two gardai were treated in Blanchardstown Hospital for arm and facial injuries after they were attacked in Dublin at the weekend.

They were pursuing two men who had loaded a number of beer kegs into their van at the Anglers Rest, at the Strawberry Beds at about 9.30 a.m. on Saturday. During the chase, the men threw beer kegs into the path of the Garda car.

At Tyrellstown, Mulhuddart, the men jumped out of their van, smashed the windows of the Garda car with crowbars, injuring the two gardai, before escaping across fields.
