A week after the body of a baby girl was found in Limerick, gardai are still seeking to trace the mother. The full-term baby was found in a black bin-bag at East Sing land Road in Garryowen by two boys last Sunday week. She was believed to have been there for several days.
Gardai have been carrying out extensive inquiries as they are concerned for the mother's welfare as she may need medical attention and counselling. Sgt Anne Marie McMahon of Henry Street Garda station said somebody might know something even by looking at their own families. "We are still hopeful that the public will help us. We have nothing to suggest who the mother is and we are appealing to anyone who has information to come forward," she added.
