A man (33) and a woman (32) were arrested last night after Gardai in Athlone found €8,000 worth of heroin on their person.
The Garda Divisional Drugs Unit made the arrests at around 10.10 p.m.
The couple are being held at Athlone Garda station under Section 4 of Offences against the State Act.
