Gardaí in Dublin investigating a petrol bomb attack on the Department of Finance have said they wish to speak to a woman who was seen in the area at the time.

A bottle containing "an accelerant" was thrown through one of the front windows of the building on Merrion Street at about 10.50pm on Sunday September 27th.

Gardaí said a lone male had approached the front of the building and thrown the bottle. A small amount of damage was done to the building.

Gardaí at Pearse Street wish to speak to a woman who walked along Merrion Street, by the Merrion Hotel, going towards Merrion Square at about 10.50pm, about the time the incident occurred.

She is described as being in her mid 20s, with dark hair and wearing glasses. She was wearing a long green three-quarter length coat cut to below the knee and high heels. She also carried a red shoulder bag.

Gardaí in Pearse Street said if this woman would come forward they would "greatly appreciate it".
