The body responsible for investigating incidents involving members of An Garda Síochana has appealed for witnesses to a collision which occurred near Swords, Co Dublin, on Friday night to come forward.

A man remains in a critical condition in hospital following the collision at Pinnock Hill which involved a Garda car and another vehicle.

The Garda Síochana Ombudsman Commission said both vehicles, a Ford Mondeo and an Opel Zafira, were travelling in the direction of Swords from the Coachman's Roundabout on the R132 when the crash happened.

Three gardaí were treated for minor injuries following the collision. The driver of the second car is being treated for severe head injuries at Beaumont Hospital.
