Earlier gardaí released a new picture of missing boy taken the night before he went missing from his home in the Midleton area last week.

The shirt he is wearing in the photograph (right) is the same shirt that he was wearing on the day he went missing, which he wore underneath a black jacket. He has not been seen since last Tuesday, January 4th.

Gardaí appealed to white van owners who may have been in the area last Tuesday to come forward so that they can be eliminated from their inquiries.

Gardaí would also like to hear from a woman seen walking her Labrador dog near Water Rock on the same evening.

Today the search for Robert was widened to include the whole county of Cork.

Superintendent Liam Hayes, who is leading the investigation in the Midleton area of Co Cork, said that around eight white vans were seen in the Midleton area the day Robert went missing.

"There is nothing suspicious about these white vans, it's just we'd like to eliminate them from our inquiries," said Supt Hayes.

He added that because bad weather had hampered the search last week, the search teams would be retracing some of their steps today.

Hundreds of volunteers are again expected to join in the sixth day of the search for the boy who left his home at Ballyedmond off the Fermoy Road, in Midleton, at 2.30 p.m. on January 4th and has not been seen since.

Robert talked to his mother by mobile phone the afternoon he disappeared.

Yesterday the Gardaí at Midleton issued a photograph of a phone similar to the one he owned.

His new BMX bicycle, a Christmas present, was found lying against a hedge by a neighbour not far from his home.

Gardaí have also asked that anyone who was at the East Cork Golf Club and Driving Range last Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to contact them if they have any information to offer.

A Garda sub-aqua team has been searching rivers and a lake in the search area and volunteers have been searching Castlemartyr Woods.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the gardaí at Midleton on 0210-4621550.
