Gardaí investigating the murder of 11-year-old Robert Holohan said an arrest of the person responsible for his death in the coming days cannot be ruled out.

Fingerprinting of hundreds of people in the area has taken place in recent days.

Garda forensic teams have also recovered a set of fingerprints from Robert's BMX bicycle and on the plastic sheeting which was used to cover his body which was found near Inch Strand on Wednesday.

Yesterday thousands of people attended the schoolboy's funeral in Midleton. Fr Billy O'Donovan said the pain of the community was apparent and everyone was moved by the anguis Robert's parents and family were suffering.
