Gardaí from Kilmainham have named the victim of the stabbing at Tyrone Place, Vincent Street West in Inchicore as 33 year-old Christy Cawley of Tyrone Place, Inchicore.
Gardaí found him seriously injured after they were called to a disturbance at Tyrone Place, shortly after 8pm last night.
Mr Cawley, who is a father of six, was pronounced dead shortly after he was taken to St James Hospital. The scene is currently being preserved pending the arrival of the Garda Technical Bureau.
A post mortem was carried out this afternoon.

The latest death came only hours after another man, named by gardaí as Anthony McGrath, died following an incident at his house at Whitestown Walk, Whitestown in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A 35-year-old man who was detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station for questioning was released without charge at 6.30pm. Gardaí said a file was being prepared for the DPP.
