Gardaí in Limerick are investigating an incident in which a number of shots were fired at a car from another vehicle on a road outside the city this afternoon.
Shortly before 1.30pm several shots were discharged at a car travelling along the Ennis Road near Cratloe, a Garda spokesman said.
The driver of the car, who was on his own at the time, was not injured. A second car, a silver Volkswagen Passat, from where the shots are believed to have been fired, crashed a short distance away close to the Radisson Hotel.
A 19-year-old man was arrested and is now detained under Section 30, Offences Against The State Act at Mayorstone Park Garda Station.
