Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating another so called "tiger" kidnapping in which a male bank employee's wife was abducted.

Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating another so called "tiger" kidnapping in which a male bank employee's wife was abducted.

A gang of armed men are understood to have held the man's wife hostage while he was forced to retrieve a sum of money from the Bank of Ireland branch on Parliament Street in Kilkenny City.

However, the gang failed to contact the man to collect the money and his wife was later found unharmed at the Weather Station at Granges Road in Kilkenny.

Gardai said a response management team was assembled earlier today after the alert was raised, and that the incident concluded this afternoon with no injuries and no money exchanged.

Gardaí have appealed for public’s assistance in identifying the people involved in this incident.

They appealed for anyone who was in the area of the Weather Station at Granges Road or the Parliament Street area of the city today to contact them at the incident room in Kilkenny on 056 7775070.
