The GAA has postponed this Saturday’s AIB All-Ireland Club Football final between Nemo Rangers and Crossmolina due to continuing fears of a foot-and-mouth outbreak in the Republic.
The All-Ireland Club Hurling semi-final replay between Graigue-Ballycallan and Sixmilebridge will also be rescheduled. Both games will be played next month.
The decision was taken on the advise of the Department of Agriculture who are continuing to monitor the foot-and-mouth situation. The games will be played in April but no set date has been fixed.
All Schools and colleges games will recommence this weekend with club matches resuming the weekend beginning March 24th and 25th. Inter-county matches will restart on March 31st and April 1st.
The National Football League final, scheduled for April 22nd, will be postponed for a number of weeks. The National Hurling League final, due for April 29th will also be moved to a later date.
The GAA has stated, however, that the resumption of games will be subject to no further outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the 32 counties.
The GAA have permitted individual county boards to persevere with their bans if needs be while a total ban is still enforced on the use of all land where animals have been grazing.
