THE funeral service for the late Mr Fergus Pyle, a former editor of The Irish Times, who died on Friday, will take place on Wednesday, April 16th, at 10 a.m. in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. The funeral will then proceed to Glasnevin crematorium.

He resigned as editor in 1977 and took on the newly created job of information officer for Trinity College.
He later returned to The Irish Times and his subsequent postings included a second stint as Northern editor from 1987 to 1990. In March that year he established a full time presence for this newspaper in Germany, initially working from Bonn and Berlin.
He reported extensively on the German unification process before returning to Dublin as chief leader writer.
Mr Pyle is survived by his wife, Mary, and children Anna, Conor Jerram, Sarah and Sebastien. Family flowers only but donations may be made, if so wished, to cancer research.
