Yesterday saw hundreds gather for the funeral of Garda Anthony Tighe (53) in Dublin.
Garda Tighe, of Ranelagh, Dublin, was married with a family of four, one of whom is serving as a garda in Kilmainham station in Dublin. Garda Tighe and and Garda Padden (27) from Belmullet, Co Mayo, were attached to Donnybrook station.
Both men were killed when a stolen car - which may have been travelling at 120 mph - hit their patrol car on the Stillorgan dual carriageway in south Dublin early on Sunday morning.
Their deaths bring to 10 the number of gardaí killed in road incidents in the past four years.
