A 24 year old Youghal man, Paul Kenneally, and his four year old cousin, David Smiddy, were killed yesterday afternoon when a car collided with two cyclists and a pedestrian at Burgess Cross, near Youghal, Co Cork, yesterday afternoon.

The man and boy were killed instantly while on their way to a nearby shop at 4.40 p.m. The man's five year old son was taken to Cork University Hospital but later discharged.

Mr Noel Quirke (20) of Killimor, Co Galway, was killed after being struck by a car as he crossed the road at 2.55 a.m. on Saturday morning at Corr on the Killimor to Ballinasloe road. The woman who was accompanying him was seriously injured and brought to Merlin Park Regional Hospital, Galway, where she was described yesterday as being "out of danger".

Mr Thomas McTiernan of Boyle, Co Roscommon, who was in his 20s, died following a collision between two cars on the Boyle Frenchpark road at 9.45 p.m. on Saturday. He was a passenger in one of the cars. Three others in the vehicle who were injured, were brought to Roscommon Hospital.
