An Israeli woman stabbed by a group of Palestinians in east Jerusalem earlier today has died of her injuries, Israeli public television reported.
The woman was taken to hospital after the incident, while Israeli police chased a group of masked Palestinian suspects, wounding one. Two were caught but one died as he was being arrested, apparently of heart failure, police sources said.
Earlier the television said that two Palestinians had been killed today when their vehicle exploded in northern Israel.
Quoting police sources, the television said the two men were apparently transporting a bomb to an unspecified target when it blew up prematurely near the town of Mei Ami.
The town is close to the highway between Hadera, on the coast north of Tel Aviv, and Afula, both of which have been targets of Palestinian attacks in the past.
The four deaths raise the toll in the 16-month Palestinian intifada, or uprising, to 1,188, including 911 Palestinians and 255 Israelis.
