February 15th: Christopher O'Flynn, an 11-year-old Cork boy, dies when the stolen Nissan Primera he is in, driven by a 16-year-old friend, hits a factory wall in north Cork.

March 16th: A trainee garda is injured after being dragged for 40 yards by a stolen car in Limerick. Another officer is injured when he is attacked by youths while trying to arrest the driver.

March 17th: Trevor O'Connell (17) dies after being hit by a stolen car as he walks home from a chip shop along a footpath in Fairhill in Cork. His friend Stephen Kirby, also 17, dies two days later in hospital.

March 24th: An elderly couple returning home in their car to Raheny Road in Dublin after walking their dog are hit by a stolen car. The woman, Mrs Teresa McGrath (71), is thrown from the car and dies two days later in hospital.
