Four men have been arrested in Co Louth after a car chase in the county last night.
Officers from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation set up a road checkpoint late last night as part of an operation into serious crime committed in the north Louth area over several months.
According to gardaí, a car carrying four men failed to stop at the checkpoint near the town of Ardee.
It is believed that a number of Garda cars were rammed and a 20-mile chase ensued before the car was stopped and the four occupants were arrested.

The men are being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at various Garda stations in Co Louth.
They are all believed to be from the Dublin area.
