A human foot encased in a white Nike running shoe has been found on a beach in the city of Richmond, Canada.
It is the seventh foot retrieved in British Columbia's waters since August 2007, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said in a statement.
The foot was discovered on October 27th by two men walking on a beach in Richmond, near the mouth of the Fraser River, according to the statement yesterday, which included photographs of a muddied shoe with untied laces.
British Columbia coroners confirmed the foot as human.
There has been no evidence of foul play in the previous cases and the feet appear to have separated from the bodies "through a natural process," the RCMP said in the statement.
The first foot discovered in 2007 was linked to a dead man whom police have declined to name at the request of his family, the Vancouver Sunnewspaper reported today.
The identity of the man whose right foot was found on Gabriola Island in August 2007 has yet to be established, according to the police statement.
Two feet found on separate islands were matched in July 2008 to the same man and two discovered near Richmond were linked to a woman in December 2008, the police said.
