Five people have died in three incidents on Irish roads today.
Three women were killed and three other people seriously injured in a collision between a car and a pick-up truck on the road between Ballindine, Co Mayo and Milltown, Co Galway, at about 8pm.
Staying in Co Galway and a woman (58) died in a single vehicle crash near Tuam earlier today.
The crash occurred at Williamstown on the Glenamaddy Road at 9.20am this morning.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
A five-year-old child who was also in the car was taken to Galway University Hospital with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Agharra, Co Longford, a man (31) died following a two-vehicle collision.
A 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after the car in which he was the sole occupant was involved in a collision with a 4 x 4 at about 2.30pm.
The driver of the 4 x 4 was taken to Mullingar Hospital.
The road between Ratharney, Co Longford and Ballynacargy, which is a back road between Longford and Mullingar, will remain closed overnight and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Today's incidents bring the number of deaths on Irish roads this year to 210.
Yesterday, the insurer Axa predicted that the number of people killed on roads this year could dip below 250 for the first time since records began in 1959.
