BORDEAUX - At least five people drowned when a French trawler capsized yesterday during a local ocean festival off south west France. The trawler was in a flotilla of dozens of boats sailing out for a local tradition of throwing wreaths into the Atlantic Ocean when it capsized 300 metres off the port of Ia Cottiniere. Another 42 people were plucked from rough seas.
