The owner of a home computer business was yesterday charged with the Republic's first case of computer software piracy when he appeared on four counts of possessing and selling more than £15,000 worth of Microsoft products.

Mr Mark Dolan (39), Kin sale, Co Cork, was charged with offering for sale, selling and possessing computer programmes with identity marks similar to those of Microsoft between April and June 1998.
