A fire broke out today at the site of an experimental fast-breeder nuclear reactor north of Tokyo, according to Japanese media.
The Kyodo News service quoted police as saying the fire broke out on the first floor of a maintenance facility which it said is separate from the experimental reactor.
Authorities ruled out the possibility of a radioactive leak or of fire spreading to the reactor, the report said.
The Joyo facility is located in Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo.
