About 30 farmers yesterday, occupied Department of Agriculture offices in Navan, Co Meath, in protest over the work embargo by the Civil and Public Services Union.

Similar protests were staged at offices in Galway and Enniscorthy, home town of the Minister for Agriculture, Mr Yates.

The dispute has disrupted cattle sales, the bovine TB eradication scheme, and a system of tagging for animals.
