IN WHAT must be a first for the Law Library, a Dublin mother of 10 was called to the Bar yesterday.
Ann Stapleton (42) from Stillorgan was flanked by her children and husband John at the Four Courts as dozens of graduates were called to the Bar after completing their studies.
The couple’s seven girls and three boys are aged four, six, seven, eight, nine, 11, 12, 14, 15 and 17.
Ms Stapleton works full-time at the Bank of Ireland computer centre in Cabinteely, while Mr Stapleton, who took early retirement from the bank eight years ago, cares for their children.
She studied for the three-year diploma by night, while her employer gave her a year off to complete the degree. Ms Stapleton has since returned to the bank. She said being called to the Bar was a very proud moment, particularly as all her family were there to witness it.
The most challenging moment was ensuring that all 10 children were looking at the camera for the family photograph, she said.
