Beijing - The Chinese government has suspended a state-owned publisher and dismissed its staff for printing books promoting the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement, the official Xinhua news agency reported yesterday.

The State Press and Publication Administration (SPPA) suspended the Qinghai People's Publishing House in the north-western province of Qinghai for its release in January of four books promoting Falun Gong, Xinhua reported.

Falun Gong was banned in July.
