MOUNTAIN biking, roller blading, skateboarding and luging are everyday sports, but when you take them on to the highway they become just a little more dangerous. Extreme Games brings these fashionable sports together in a mixture of races in five locations.

Not unlike Road Rash or Skitchin, Extreme Games is basically about getting to the finishing line first and pulverising anyone who gets in your way. Although Extreme Games offers you the choice of four pieces of equipment to race with, their handling characteristics are `remarkably alike'.

A distinct lack of anything motorised may be one reason for Extreme Games's failings. Check out any of the courses and you'll be hard pressed to see any cars. Road Rash on the other hand was not alone littered with cars and vans, you also had to avoid traffic cops. Even in Skitchin, although you travelled on a skateboard, cars were an integral part of the game.

White Extreme Games is a good concept, it fails miserably. This can be attributed in part to the fact that bikes, skateboards, luges and roller blades don't have any engines and the lack of that pulsating noise makes the whole thing seem a little mundane and snail paced.
