Euro zone retail sales in September fell 2.1 per cent from August and were down 2.1 per cent year-on-year, European Commission statistics office Eurostat said this morning.
For the EU, retail sales fell by 1 per cent from August but rose 0.8 per cent year-on-year, Eurostat said.
Eurostat revised its August figures for the euro zone to a monthly rise of 0.8 per cent from a 1 per cent increase and to a year-on-year gain of 1.6 per cent from 1.5 per cent.
For the EU, the figures were revised to a monthly gain of 0.6 per cent from to a 0.5 per cent increase and to a year-on-year rise of 2.2 per cent from a 2.1 per cent increase.
