European competition commissioner Mr Mario Monti will meet European football's governing body next Monday to discuss broadcasting rights for the Champions League, Mr Monti's spokeswoman Ms Amelia Torres said.
Last July 20th, the commission sent a statement of objections to UEFA challenging its practice of selling all Champions League pay-TV and free TV rights exclusively to a single broadcaster per territory for a period of several years.
One effect of UEFA's policy is that only bigger media groups can afford to buy and exploit the bundle of rights, it said.
