European Union transport ministers are to hold an extraordinary meeting tomorrow to discuss air transport safety.
It comes following the devastating attacks by hijacked aircraft on landmarks in New York and Washington.
Belgium, which holds the rotating presidency, announced today a scheduled informal meeting of ministers in Brussels would be turned into a formal session where policy decisions could be made.
Diplomats said they expected the ministers to issue a declaration of support for the United States and possibly to call for better international coordination of security measures.
