European Union vets have banned the export of French livestock susceptible to foot-and-mouth, according to reports.

European Union vets have banned the export of French livestock susceptible to foot-and-mouth, according to reports.

A ban has also been put on milk, meat and meat products from the Mayenne district of north west France.

The French Agriculture Ministry has confirmed the country's - and continental Europe's - first case of foot-and-mouth in Mayenne.

The bans will remain in force until March 27th and are due to be reviewed next week.
