A chronic drug addict has been given an eight-year sentence for a series of “aggressive and physical robberies” in west Dublin.

Karl Mullen (31), Rowlagh Crescent, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty to attempted robbery in Lucan on October 27th, 2008, robbery of an off- licence in Clondalkin on January 4th, 2009, and two robberies at the Liffey Valley area on February 6th, 2009.

Judge Katherine Delahunt imposed consecutive sentences totalling eight years with the final two years suspended.

Mullen, who has 32 previous convictions, told Luigi Rea, defending, that he wished to apologise to the victims of his robberies.
