Another effort to prevent the sale of the former home of two elderly sisters at Marino Park, Blackrock, Co Dublin, failed at the High Court yesterday.
On June 6th the court cleared the way for the sale of the house, which has been the home of Eileen (87) and Rose (83) Blackall for decades and over which they have been fighting a legal battle since the early 1990s.
The sale of the property, on about 1.75 acres, was ordered by the Circuit Court three years ago for £400,000 but relatives of the sisters estimate it is now worth well over £3 million. Yesterday, Mr Justice Finnegan was told the two sisters wanted a stay on the June 6th order to allow them to take further legal proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights.
But after hearing from the various sides in the case, the judge said he would not grant the stay.
